The Resinism

Since late 2014, JanRuju has been inviting artist friends — the ResinatiMentali — to take part in this original and creative project.

The Resinism is a multi-participant artistic concept that brings together and involves artists from all over the world in creative synergy to produce artworks on modular panels of identical dimensions — united not only by the use of resinous materials in their most varied forms, but also by the distinctive quality of being "TILES" of a single great work in continuous construction, built by many hands… A grand MOSAIC.

Objective

An ever-growing collective of artists that becomes a travelling movement with exhibitions and installations across the world, capable of channelling different expressive languages into authentic works of art.

Modular Panel Tiles that travel each time to different places and cultures — all identical in dimension and measurement, easy to transport for exhibitions in any space and environment.

An active and stimulating community that "cooperates artistically": creates with many hands, provides technical guidance on the use of resins, designs works collaboratively, offers materials and spaces in which to create… experimenting and discovering.

Alien Sculptures

The Alien Sculptures are one-of-a-kind pieces — organic, sensual forms that emerge from matter like creatures arrived from another world. The Prototophe brand identifies this line of sculptures — "unique sculptures, sensual art" — ranging in scale from 10 cm up to 5 metres.

Each piece is an unrepeatable work: shaped by hand, forged with reclaimed materials, coated in resin, illuminated from within. Wall installations create environmental compositions that transform spaces into living art galleries. Forms that evoke cosmic leaves, primordial pods, shells of creatures that never existed — suspended between nature and science fiction.

The largest sculptures become site-specific installations for public spaces, gardens, hotel lobbies and corporate headquarters. The smallest are collectible objects that bring Ruju's alien universe into people's homes.

EJan Wearable Sculptures are jewel-sculptures: rings, bracelets and accessories crafted by hand using unconventional techniques and recycled materials. Each piece is a wearable work of art — unique and unrepeatable.

Aluminum Collection

The aluminium collection is organised around the days of the week — MONdays, TUESdays, WEDNESdays, THURSdays, FRIdays, SATURdays, SUNdays — a different ring for every day, a different sculpture to wear. Hand made in unique pieces, with unusual techniques, and recycled materials.

Limited Editions

Beyond the Aluminum Collection, the limited editions include rings in iron, gold and mixed materials — each series is numbered and documented. The catalog grid features over 20 individually photographed pieces, each with its own sculptural identity.

Forum Colorum — from the Latin "the Forum of Colors" — was an innovative startup founded in the late 1970s by Nino Tatriele, a brilliant and forward-thinking manager at a German multinational leading the field of paints and colors across all their applications.

It was 1986 when Gianluigi Ruju, young and full of enthusiasm, walked into the ultra-modern offices at MilanoFiori, in the glass towers — an incredible, surreal environment: it was the future. Nino gifted him the dream of working on cutting-edge workstations, from the first Tesak to the phenomenal Personal Iris 4D 20 by Silicon Graphics — the 3D computer used to create Roger Rabbit.

Numerous projects were realised for the world's greatest car manufacturers — from Alfa Romeo in Italy to Mercedes, Volkswagen and BMW in Germany.

The Idea: Canvas in Movement

A serialised format. Each "episode" dedicated to one or more artists who interpret the corresponding "car/canvas" — sought and found among old vintage FIAT 500s and 600s, non-running, in the place where the artist lives, with the aim of creating a series of "works" for a travelling exhibition in movement that will journey through cities across Italy.

A collection of creative messages interpreted by various artists, designers and stylists who, by taking part in the initiative, bring to life an ever-growing travelling exhibition… A collective show of canvases, "canvas in movement" embodied by the historic automobiles that defined the uniqueness of Italian Design.

Our Team will restore the automobile, preserving its aesthetic character and preparing it for the artistic intervention, while also transforming it into an ecological vehicle with electric drive. The artist will paint their message onto the "canvas-car", interpreting the proposed concept with a focus on Responsible Behaviour and Environmental Sustainability.

10 episodes — A contest between two artists per episode. A final collective composed of 20 car artworks to be auctioned for fundraising in support of social initiatives.

The First Work: FIAT 600 by Willow — Milan, 2009

The first work was created in 2009: the FIAT 600 decorated by artist Willow in Milan, an event documented by the national press including Quattroruote and La Repubblica.

SERIALISED TELEVISION FORMAT

Mission

A team of dreamers sets out from Milan in every direction, driving vintage cars that will later be converted to electric (Officine Ruggenti), decorated by established and emerging artists, invited and involved in this multi-participant project.

The first example is a 1967 Fiat 600 (decorated by WillowArt).

A crew in search of historic automobiles to hand over to International Artists for decoration… The "Caravan" of Artists — each car a testament, a thought embodied in an Artist's moving Work — encounters new cultures and cities, and in each one invites local artists to create an artwork on a special canvas, a vintage car sought along the way.

The works become a sign, a testament and a message that the Project carries with it throughout its journey, in the continuous search and collection of artistic and cultural experiences. A growing Travelling Collective of Artists — after each stop, the cars become ever more numerous, ever more scenographic, colourful and expressive.

A caravan of colours that becomes a message, in cultural exchange, art, creativity and different cultures… Within the Project, art and sociality intersect, along with a passion for automotive design and the architecture of visited cities, the ideas of the Artists and the food of the regions crossed.

Goals

To collect images and video of the journey, documenting everything from departure and the routes along state roads, to rest stops and the Artists' performances — which may take place indoors or in the squares and parks of visited cities — in order to create a Television Format, a website, a blog that can be funded through sponsorships and partnerships across a series of episodes.

Sellone is the project that transforms historic motorcycle saddles into giant design objects: sofas, armchairs, signature seating. From the small saddle to the grand Sellone, from everyday object to functional work of art.

Made with reclaimed materials and resin, the Sellone is a manifesto of eco-sustainable design: beautiful, functional, unique, and born from the transformation of waste. Each piece is a celebration of Italian motor heritage, reinterpreted in a contemporary and sculptural key.
